Construction site porta potty rental in El Paso
Job-site toilets counted to OSHA’s table and cleaned every week. Under 29 CFR 1926.51 you need one toilet for up to 20 workers, then one seat and one urinal per 40. The same rule applies on New Mexico jobs. Units stay on site in 28-day cycles until you call for removal, and Highrise units can go up with your crane.

Toilet counts for Texas and New Mexico job sites
Federal OSHA covers private employers in Texas. New Mexico’s state plan adopts the same construction standard.
| Workers on site | What Table D-1 requires | Standard units, minimum |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 20 | One toilet | 1 |
| 21 to 40 | One seat and one urinal per 40 | 1 |
| 41 to 80 | One seat and one urinal per 40 | 2 |
| 81 to 120 | One seat and one urinal per 40 | 3 |
| 200 and up | One seat and one urinal per 50 | 4 at 200, then one per 50 |
The legal floor vs. what keeps a unit usable
The table counts heads and nothing else. The ANSI benchmark OSHA refers to plans on about 10 people per unit with one cleaning a week. Fall far below that and the unit fills before the truck comes back.
- 12 framers, 50-hour weeks: one unit meets the rule. We would send two, or one with a second weekly visit.
- 45 workers on a tilt-up warehouse: two units minimum. Five with weekly cleaning keeps them usable.
- Night pours or double shifts: add a second weekly visit before adding units.
What we put on job sites
Standard toilet
Small footprint, 60-gallon tank. Fits beside the site trailer or the edge of a slab.
Highrise toilet
Satellite Highrise: 31.2″ wide with the roof off, lift kit for crane or hoist picks. The 38-gallon tank fills faster, so busy floors get more visits.
Wash station
Covers the washing requirement with water, soap and towels, parked beside the toilets.
What the technician does on site
The technician pumps the tank, scrubs the inside, adds deodorizer, restocks paper and soap, and logs the visit. A tipped, damaged or moved unit is reported and fixed on the next route.

Make cleaning day go smoothly
- Keep a truck-wide lane open; do not box the unit in with rebar, pallets or a roll-off.
- Send gate codes and badging rules ahead, especially at Fort Bliss, port-of-entry and refinery sites.
- Call the same day a unit tips over.
- Ask for a move before grading cuts off the access road.

Job-site toilet questions
How many toilets does OSHA require for my crew in El Paso?
Texas private employers fall under federal OSHA, so 29 CFR 1926.51 Table D-1 applies: one toilet for 20 workers or fewer, then one seat and one urinal for every 40 workers, and every 50 once the site reaches 200. A standard unit has one seat and one urinal, so a 45-person crew needs at least two.
Is it different on the New Mexico side?
New Mexico runs its own OSHA program through the state Environment Department’s Occupational Health and Safety Bureau. For construction it adopts the federal 1926 standards, so the toilet counts are the same in Sunland Park, Santa Teresa and Las Cruces. Inspections come from the state office instead of federal OSHA.
Does a toilet that has not been cleaned still count?
No. OSHA has said a toilet kept in unsanitary condition has not been “provided.” In the same letter it points to ANSI Z4.3, which plans for a unit used by up to 10 people to be cleaned at least weekly. That is why our crew numbers assume a weekly visit.
Do I need a wash station on a job site?
Paragraph (f) of 1926.51 requires washing facilities with water, soap and single-use towels. On most sites that means a two-person station next to the toilets. We suggest one for every 20 workers.
How does job-site billing work?
In 28-day cycles. One recent quote: $247.20 for the first 28 days with delivery, $205 for each cycle after that, and $29 to remove the unit at the end. Weekly cleaning was included.
Can you put a toilet on an upper floor?
Yes, using the Satellite Highrise. With the roof off it is 31.2″ wide, narrow enough for a standard doorway, and the lift kit lets your crane or hoist move it between floors.
